Schools, hospitals, and critical infrastructure have all been and continue to be frequently targeted by attacks, disrupting and limiting access to essential services. UNICEF has been working in Ukraine for over 25 years and currently has 140 staff members in country working to support children and their families with critical supplies, protection from trafficking and cash transfers. UNICEF is also working at bordering nations to help assist the more than 2.2 million refugees who have fled from Ukraine.
Support is urgently needed to help UNICEF's response in and around Ukraine as the situation for children and families continues to deteriorate. Currently, 12 million people are in need of health assistance, 13.6 million people lack access to clean water and 2.2 million children are in need of protection services. UNICEF has launched an emergency appeal for $949 million to support these needs and many more.
