Even though the Sharks are unable to play a game on what was supposed to be their Hockey Is For Everyone Night, it doesn't mean that we can't celebrate it.
We asked fans on social media to share what Hockey Is For Everyone means to them, and why it's important for us to celebrate it.
To start things off, a few recognizable faces shared messages on Twitter.

Other fans shared their stories on Twitter.

Fans on Facebook also shared some stories.

"It means that my 11 year old son with a severe Intellectual Disability who functions at a much lower age can watch his favorite player (Gambrell) and cheer and be lost in the game. During game time, he gets to be "normal" and cheer for something he understands and loves. During game time, especially when his favorite player is on the ice, he is part of the team, he is just happy."

"It means no matter who you are, you're accepted by this awesome community. No matter who you are, you're loved and cared about by tons of people."

@\reveux:
"i had forgotten about hockey for a bit in high school, but nearing the end of it i stumbled upon a comic about hockey, and found family and college coming-of-age (check please! by ngozi ukazu) that's sort of brought back my excitement for the game, twofold. since then, going to games and getting involved in the community surrounding it has been a touchstone for me, and i love seeing how the sharks especially take the #HockeyIsForEveryone message to heart, because it means so so much to queer people. hockey is a wonderful sport, and it's worth sharing with equally wonderful people."
@luvmysharks:
"Took my 10yr old to his 1st game in 2005 and never expected the impact hockey would have on my life. As a woman I never expected to love this sport as much as I do. People often think I just tag along to the games with my husband but it's the other way around. The tank is my happy place!"

"My love of hockey began when I was a teen, 25 years ago. A friend at the time bought me a San Jose hat and use to watch him play as a junior. About a year ago, I finally had the opportunity, confidence and finances to play...best thing I ever did! I've met some incredible people who have become amazing friends and even met someone special! I'm almost 40 and it is never too late to follow a dream! 🏒💜"
To wrap things up, the Sharks own Vice President of Business Analytics and Technology shared what it means to her in a 10-part Twitter thread:
