Hartman, 24, tallied 26 points (12-24=26) and 74 penalty minutes (PIM) in 83 games with the Nashville Predators and Philadelphia Flyers last season. The 6-foot, 181-pound native of Hilton Head Island, S.C., set career highs in games played, PIM and blocked shots (39), and ranked T-2nd in games played in the NHL in 2018-19. He owns 89 points (42-47=89), a plus-13 rating, 218 PIM, 357 hits and 112 blocked shots in 245 career NHL games during parts of five seasons (2014-19) with the Chicago Blackhawks, Nashville Predators and Philadelphia Flyers. Hartman has also collected three points (2-1=3) in 13 career Stanley Cup Playoff contests.
He played for the United States National Development Program Under-17 team in 2010-11 and led the team in goals and scoring. Hartman ranked second on the United States National Development Program Under-18 team in scoring and assists in 2011-12 and served as an alternate captain. He collected 103 points (48-65=103) and 211 PIM in two seasons (2012-14) with the Plymouth Whalers in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) and served as an alternate captain in 2013-14. Hartman notched 79 points (31-48=79), a plus-29 rating and 257 PIM in 139 contests during parts of three seasons (2013-16) with the Rockford IceHogs in the American Hockey League (AHL) and played in the 2016 AHL All-Star Challenge.
He recorded six points (2-4=6) in six games to help Team USA win the gold medal at the 2012 IIHF World Under-18 Championship. Hartman tallied three points (2-1=3) at the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship to help the United States win a gold medal. He also played in the 2014 IIHF World Junior Championship.

Chicago selected Hartman in the first round (30th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft. He made his NHL debut with the Blackhawks on Feb. 13, 2015 vs. New Jersey.
