SAINT PAUL, Minn. -- Jack Peart didn't have any Minnesota Wild jerseys that donned the name of his favorite player. Growing up in Grand Rapids, the 2021 Minnesota Mr. Hockey winner joked that he instead simply had "some nice cheap jerseys" to rep his favorite hometown NHL team.
But Peart took one step closer to having his name on an official Wild sweater during day one of development camp at TRIA Rink on Tuesday.
"It was awesome to meet the guys and kind of put on a Wild jersey for the first time," said the 2021 second round (54thoverall) pick. "It was good."

Peart has certainly made his name known in Minnesota. In addition to being named Mr. Hockey, Peart was also selected as the Reed Larson Award winner, given annually to the state's top defenseman, having led the Grand Rapids squad in assists (24), points (35) and game-winning goals (three) in his senior campaign.
Furthering his presence on the State of Hockey scene, Peart tallied two goals and 17 points in 32 games with the St. Cloud State University Huskies last season. He will return for his sophomore year in 2022-23.
"It was definitely eye-opening for me at St. Cloud. The weightlifting, getting bigger, faster stronger," said Peart. That's one of my biggest focuses going forward."
He will have plenty of time to maintain that focus. Following this week's development camp, Peart heads to Plymouth, Michigan on July 24 to join the U.S. National Junior Team and compete at the 2022 World Junior Championships in Edmonton Aug. 9 - 20.
"He had a really good freshman year in St. Cloud, really started off very well," Wild Director of Player Development Brad Bombardir said. "You know, went to the World Juniors, got the late invite and made the team. He's a very smart player, smooth player. You know, for him, probably just needs to play it a little bit higher pace eventually. And just fitness level for him. It's just he's still got a young body so it's going to take him a little bit I think just to kind of grow into more of a mature body and that'll take a little bit of time, but smart player, competitive and has really good feel for the game."
