PROSPECT OF THE WEEK:

  • Cameron Lund (Northeastern, HE) registered his second collegiate hat trick, including a game-winner against Boston College on Dec. 1. He was named Sharks Prospect of the Week, presented by Kaiser Permanente on Dec. 6
  • Eli Barnett (Vermont, HE) Posted his first multi-assist game of the campaign with Vermont. He was named the Sharks Prospect of the Week, presented by Kaiser Permanente on Dec. 13

BARRACUDA

  • Danil Gushchin tallied a career-high four-point game (1g, 3a), earning AHL Second Star of the Night in the 6-1 victory over the Henderson Silver Knights on Dec. 8. It was his second three-assist game on the year (Last: Oct. 29 vs. Coachella Valley) and the third of his AHL career
  • Eetu Mäkiniemi earned the Barracuda’s first shutout of the season in a 3-0 win over Calgary, stopping all 22 shots faced on Dec. 15
  • Shakir Mukhamadullin has found the score sheet in five of the past six games with seven points (2g, 5a) in that span. He had a goal and two assists in the weekend sweep of first-place Calgary over the weekend (Dec. 15-16)
  • Ethan Cardwell has five points (3g, 2a) in the past six games, including scoring the Teddy Bear Toss goal on Dec. 16 vs. Calgary

PROSPECT NOTABLES – NORTH AMERICA

  • Will Smith (Boston College, HE) and Eric Pohlkamp (Bemidji State, CCHA) have been selected to represent the USA at the 2024 World Junior Championship. Smith has registered points in 10 of the past 11 games (4g, 11a) and ranks second on BC in scoring while Pohlkamp, who won Sharks Prospect of the Week earlier in the season (Nov. 22), is second among Bemidji State defensemen in scoring with nine points
  • Brandon Svoboda (Youngstown, USHL) earned a bronze medal while representing the USA at the World Junior A Challenge, helping lead America to a 5-0- 1 record. He had six points (3g, 3a) in six games at the tournament, including a pair of assists in the bronze medal game against Sweden
  • Jake Furlong (Halifax, QMJHL) was selected for Canada’s World Junior Championship team. He has captained the Halifax Mooseheads to a 22-9-4 record to start the season
  • Kasper Halttunen (London, OHL) earned an invitation to Finland’s World Junior Championship selection camp. He is eighth in the OHL with 20 goals
  • Quentin Musty (Sudbury, OHL) has 23 points in his past nine games, including two five-point games on Nov. 24 (3g, 2a vs. London) and Dec. 1 (2g, 3a vs. Barrie). He leads the OHL in points per game (1.90) and is second on Sudbury with 38 points on the year
  • Luca Cagnoni (Portland, WHL) tied his career high with four assists on Dec. 13 in a 7-2 win over Wenatchee. He is second among WHL defensemen in scoring

PROSPECT NOTABLES – INTERNATIONAL

  • Filip Bystedt (Linköping, SHL) and Mattias Hävelid (Linköping, SHL)were selected to Sweden’s World Junior Championship team
  • Yegor Rimashevsky (Dynamo Moskva, KHL) scored his first goal at the KHL level with Dynamo Moskva in the loss against the Spartak Moskva on Dec. 5 in over­time
  • Yevgeni Kashnikov (Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk, KHL) has found the score sheet in two of his last four games (1g, 1a) with Neftekhimik Nizhnekamsk, including his first goal of his campaign on Dec. 1 against the Avangard Omsk
