GAME RECAP

CHI: 0, WSH: 1

2nd - 3:36 - Alex Ovechkin (T.J. Oshie, Nicklas Backstrom) -- PP

After a scoreless first period largely thanks to the heroics of Fleury in goal, the Capitals capitalized on their second power play of the night as Alex Ovechkin set up shop at the left dot. The winger popped a one-timer home off a setup from T.J. Oshie for a 1-0 lead and his 274th career power-play goal, tying Dave Andreychuk for the most PPGs in NHL history.

2nd - 13:55 - Alex DeBrincat (Patrick Kane, Dominik Kubalik) -- PP

Chicago answered back with a 5-on-3 tally later in the period, kicking off a wild 34-second span that saw a one-goal deficit turn into a two-goal lead. One a brief 5-on-3 opportunity, Patrick Kane fed Alex DeBrincat with a cross-crease pass, where DeBrincat potted a one-timer from a sharp angle to tie things, 1-1.

2nd - 14:13 - Philipp Kurashev (Kirby Dach, Caleb Jones) -- PP

Just 18 seconds later, still on a power play, Kirby Dach found Philipp Kurashev with a pass on a 2-on-1 that the winger put on goal only to be denied by Ilya Samsonov. Kurashev followed up his chance, backhanding home his own rebound over the pad for his first of the season and a 2-1 lead before the first goal could finish being announced over the PA.

The goal frenzy continued 16 seconds later as MacKenzie Entwistle popped home a rebound of his own for a 3-1 lead. Providing the net-front screen on a Brandon Hagel shot from the circle, Entwistle quickly found the rebound off Ilya Samsonov's pad at the edge of the crease and tucked a backhander past the netminder's skate for the goal.

2nd - 19:18 - Daniel Sprong (Lars Eller)

3rd - 11:57 - Lars Eller (T.J. Oshie, Conor Sheary)

The Capitals pulled even with under 10 minutes to play in the game off a rush as T.J. Oshie found Lars Eller in tight. The centerman controlled the puck as he tumbled to the ice, sliding a puck past the pad of Marc-Andre Fleury in the process for a 3-3 score.

3rd - 15:00 - Alex DeBrincat (Brandon Hagel, Dylan Strome) -- PP

The Blackhawks regained the lead with exactly five minutes to play with their third power play tally of the night.
