3 Blues claim World Cup of Hockey

ST. LOUIS - The season is still nearly two weeks away, but three St. Louis Blues have already laid claim to a championship.
Defensemen Alex Pietrangelo and Jay Bouwmeester, and Blues general manager Doug Armstrong, each helped lead Team Canada claim the World Cup of Hockey 2016 title on Thursday thanks to a 2-1 win against Team Europe.

Pietrangelo finished the tournament with one goal, two assists and a plus-5 rating. The Blues captain was making his fifth career international appearance. He previously won a gold medal with Canada at the 2009 World Junior Championship and at the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
Bouwmeester was making his 11th major international appearance. He won gold at the World Championships in 2003 and 2004, while also claiming the top prize at the 2014 Winter Olympics and at the 2004 World Cup of Hockey. The 33-year-old defenseman played in six games, registering one assist and a plus-6 rating.
Armstrong, who has served as the general manager of the St. Louis Blues since 2010, was the architect of the club. He also was part of Canada's management group for gold medal victories at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and at the 2014 Winter Olympics.
