MONTREAL - The Canadiens acquired veteran Eric Staal from the Buffalo Sabres in exchange for a third and fifth-round selection in the 2021 NHL Draft on Friday.

Here's a look at Staal's career in numbers:
1,272 - The 36-year-old centreman boasts 1,272 games of NHL experience in the regular season with the Carolina Hurricanes, New York Rangers, Minnesota Wild and the Sabres.
1,031 - The veteran pivot has registered 439 goals, 592 assists and 1,031 points in 17 seasons in the NHL ranks.
51- The Thunder Bay, ON native has amassed 21 goals, 30 assists and 51 points in 62 career postseason games.
3 - Staal has registered three 40-plus goal seasons over the course of his career, most recently accomplishing the feat in 2017-18 when he scored a franchise record 42 goals with Minnesota.

12 - Staal has scored at least 20 goals in a single season on 12 occasions. The last time was in 2018-19 when he lit the lamp 22 times in 81 games with the Wild.
10- The former first-round selection of the Hurricanes (2nd overall) in 2003 has collected at least 60 points on 10 occasions in 17 seasons. Staal set career-highs in goals (45), assists (55) and points (100) during the 2005-06 campaign with Carolina.
