Perry

MONTREAL - The Canadiens scrimmaged at the Bell Sports Complex on Thursday.

Following the contest, forward Corey Perry and goaltender Jake Allen met the media.
They were followed at the podium by head coach Claude Julien.
Here are a few highlights from their Zoom-based Q&A with reporters:
Perry just arrived in the Habs' fold, but he's already feeling right at home amongst familiar veteran faces, including Shea Weber, Brendan Gallagher and Carey Price, with whom he previously competed internationally:
I met them along the way by playing in different tournaments with them. It's exciting. They're guys that have proven that they win in this league and in different tournaments. They all lead by different ways. I'm just trying to fit in, get to know everybody and see where that goes.

Corey Perry on his net-front presence

The 35-year-old Peterborough, ON native is looking forward to being a resource for his new teammates, especially some of the Canadiens' younger forwards. He plans on helping them out in a number of ways:
Just talking to them every day, just watching them and helping them with little tricks. I just want to see what we can work on and where we can go. I'm going to share little plays, little tricks that I picked up along the way. I'll be trying to use everything I've learned, everything that was passed down to me, and pass it down to them.
Like Perry, Allen is quickly getting acclimated to his new surroundings as well and steadily building an important bond with the Canadiens' starter:
I've talked with most of the guys, just get to know them a little bit. I've obviously talked to Carey the most out of anyone just a little bit to understand him and get to know his personality and the way he is on and off the ice. It's been great so far. He's a super nice guy, laid back and works hard on the ice. It's going to be a good match. It's great to get to know the guys here. It's a short camp, so I'm trying to get to know everyone as quick as possible. It's good to start off with a road trip, too. I think that'll help me and the new guys bond with the veteran guys a little easier than being at home from the start.

Jake Allen on getting to know Carey Price

Even though this is a short training camp, Allen fully expects that both he and Price will be ready for duty come the season-opener next week:
Every single team is going through the same situation, so we're all in the same boat. We have seven or eight ice times to get ourselves ready in the best shape as we can. It's definitely not ideal, but it is what it is. Carey looks great out there. He looks smooth, he looks himself. Every day you've just got to try and get a little better.
Asked whether the coaching staff will remind Jesperi Kotkaniemi about the reasons why he enjoyed a productive run in the Toronto bubble, Julien replied that the Finnish centerman already knows exactly how to keep his play rolling:
We'll definitely remind him, but at the same time he remembers very well what he did that led to his success. He's continuing to do it. He's a player with an excellent shot. We want him to shoot the puck. He also has size and can go to the net. We saw that when he scored his goal in the scrimmage. He went to the net and he jumped on the loose puck.

Claude Julien assesses the Canadiens' scrimmage

As far as Thursday's intra-squad game is concerned, Julien was exceptionally pleased with the style of play:
It's exactly what we wanted to see. Team White worked really hard. Their work ethic and the way they competed were even better than if we played a preseason game against another team. When it comes to preseason games, you bring half your team most of the time and your veterans give just enough to get ready for the season. I'd say we had a more competitive matchup this way. This intra-squad game was a positive experience. It's the type of game that will prepare us to be better at the start of the year.
