Need to Know

Getting Here:

The Culture + Entertainment District is under construction, with more than $600M in city-building projects led by CMLC underway in the area, as well as the Calgary Stampede’s Sam Centre and the City of Calgary’s Green Line LRT, resulting in significant road closures and detours.

We know that construction of this nature can be disruptive, but we are confident that The C+E will be an exceptional destination for Calgarians and tourists alike when complete, so we appreciate your patience while we bring the vision to life.

During this time vehicle and pedestrian access to the ‘Dome will be restricted and parking may be limited.

Scotiabank Saddledome security is managed in-house with a staff that provides professional protection for the facilities, guests and performers. To allow guests to enter the venue as quickly and efficiently as possible, guests will now be asked to remove cell phones and keys from their pockets and place them, as well as bags/purses, on a small table beside the magnetometer for inspection. Bags and purses should not exceed 12" x 12" x 6".

These security measures are designed to expedite your entry into the venue. To ensure easy access and minimal delays, patrons are encouraged to arrive early and travel light. The implementation of these procedures will be new for everyone so we thank you in advance for your patience and strongly encourage planning ahead to allow adequate time for entry.

Warmup/Intermission

Warmup begins 31 minutes before the scheduled game time and is 16 minutes in length. Each period of play contains three separate TV timeouts which are two minutes in length. These happen at the first even strength whistle that is not an icing call after the 14:00, 10:00 and 6:00 mark of each period.

The two intermission breaks are 18:00 in length and the teams re-enter the ice surface with approximately 90 seconds left in that time frame. The Game Presentation department produces a script to help guide the content of our in-arena show every night. Filling the breaks in the action and giving the C of Red an entertaining and engaging hockey experience. When spending three hours at the Scotiabank Saddledome for a Flames Game, hockey fills one hour, Game Presentation fills the other two.
