The Flames are coming off arguably their most complete game of the year.
They walked into MSG Monday night and handed the Rangers their second loss of the season with a convincing 5-1 victory in midtown Manhattan.
The surging Flames have won three straight, scoring 12 goals along the way.
Andrew Mangiapane notched up a pair of tallies Monday, while Blake Coleman, Chris Tanev and Mikael Backlund rounded out the offence.
Jacob Markstrom was a beast between the pipes with 28 saves.
Tonight's tilt markes the first time the Flames and Devils have played each other since Nov. 7, 2019. Noah Hanifin led the way with a goal and two helpers that night as the Flames earned a 5-2 victory.
The Flames have won six straight meetings with the Devils, dating all the way back to Feb. 3, 2017.

THEM

The Devils haven't played since Saturday night, when they edged the Buffalo Sabres at home.
Pavel Zacha scored the game-winner with 1:51 left in extra time, Nico Hischier providing the other New Jersey marker.
Nico Daws made 24 saves, becoming the fifth-youngest goalie in franchise history to make his NHL debut (at just 20 years, 305 days).
"I'm kind of speechless right now," the 2020 third-round pick told Mike Morreale on NHL.com. "We got off to an early deficit and, at that point, my job was to just give the team a chance to win, try to stop every puck I can."
Morreale reported New Jersey was without goalies Mackenzie Blackwood (heel) and Jonathan Bernier (lower body), and center Jack Hughes, who missed his second straight game after being placed on injured reserve Thursday with a dislocated left shoulder.
The victory over Buffalo was their fourth straight game in the friendly confines of the Prudential Center to start the campaign. Following their tilt with the Flames, they will travel to Pittsburgh for their first road game of the season.
To no surprise, the team has been focused on making hay while at home right now.
"We know it's important," head coach Lindy Ruff told Devils.com reporter Sam Kasan. "We talked about it. The home record was really something we needed to improve. When you have an opportunity to start five games at home in a row you've got to play good hockey and you have to win games. Sometimes you have to find ways to win games, and we've been able to do that."
So far they have gone 3-1, their lone defeat coming at the hands of the Washington Capitals on Oct. 21. They are aiming to take eight of 10 points on this homestand with a win tonight.

3. THIS, THAT & THE OTHER

This: Johnny Gaudreau (331) is just two assists shy of catching Kent Nilsson (333) for eighth all-time in assists in Flames history. Johnny (501 pts) is also four points shy of catching Gary Roberts (505) for the ninth-most points in Flames history ... That:The Flames are in the midst of their first back-to-back of the season. Calgary was 4-5-1 in the first game of a back-to-back a season ago, and 3-5-1 in the second game last year. In 2019-20, the Flames went 5-4-0 in the second game of a back to-back ...The Other:Mikael Backlund notched a goal and an assist Monday and is now just one point away from becoming the 19th player in franchise history to hit the 400-point mark as a member of the Flames. Backlund has 155 goals and 244 assists in 749 games ... A bonus fourth: Flames assistant coach, video - Jamie (Chips) Pringle - is taking part in his 1,000th NHL game tonight. Congrats on the milestone!

4. PLAYERS TO WATCH

Flames -Andrew Mangiapane
The guy literally - in the truest sense of that overused word - has only one speed: all out. His compete-level is off the charts and he never, ever takes a shift off.
Tenacious on the forecheck, a menace on defence in his own zone, a relentless pest in the neutral zone - he's the complete package on the ice.
Oh, and did we mention the scoring?
Mangiapane scored a pair of goals in Monday's win over the Rangers - a dandy in the second period and a lovely powerplay tally with just five ticks left which showed off his hand-eye coordination. He now has scored in every game this season except the Oct. 18 tilt against the Ducks.
"He's really good around the net," said head coach Darryl Sutter, when asked about his No. 88's play postgame. "He's got a great work ethic, good hands, and even the play at the end, it comes off the boards and a lot of guys aren't going to make that play. They're either going to fan on it or not get it. It's a good package."
Devils -Dougie Hamilton
The former Flames defenceman is always a threat to create offence from the backend.
The blueliner signed a seven-year deal with the Devils as a free agent back in July, leaving Carolina where he had been traded by Calgary as part of a deal that brought Elias Lindholm and Noah Hanifin back the other way.
Hamilton spent three season with the Hurricanes, tallying 42 goals and collecting 79 helpers. So far this season in four tilts with Jersey, he has one goal and one assist.

5. QUOTABLE

"It was good. Since we started 0-1-1, we needed to get some wins under our belt. Just a hard-working team. We need all four lines to roll and we need six D and myself and Dan (Vladar), the goalies to play good if we're going to have a chance to win games. I think we've been playing much better, not giving up as many chances and the chances they do get, the guys are clearing rebounds. It's not going to be super fancy and back and forth; we want to be more in control and come as a unit as five. When we do that, we've had success this year."
