To a man, the message was the same coming out of the Flames dressing room after a 4-1 loss to the visiting Predators Thursday night.
"It's unacceptable, the whole thing," said Blake Coleman, the lone goalscorer for the Flames with his first of the season. "Regardless of what the games before, the outcomes were. It's a home game, it's a game we needed to win. It's a game you want to have right from the get-go, and we didn't have it. Unacceptable is the best way to describe it."
Coleman's tally came in the third period with Calgary trailing 3-0. The Preds would ice the victory later with an empty-netter from Matt Duchene.
The defeat was the third in a row for the Flames, who started the season a franchise best 5-1.
Jacob Markstrom got the start in net and made 28 saves. Calgary was without Chris Tanev, who did not dress. Connor Mackey drew in as a result.
Tonight's tilt with the Devils will wrap up a season-long eight-game homestand for the Flames, who will head out on the road next week with a trio of East-Coast tilts against the Islanders Monday, Devils Tuesday and red-hot Bruins Thursday.

Talk about a flair for the dramatic.
Trailing the Oilers 3-2 late in the third period in Edmonton Thursday night, the Devils stunned the hometown squad by scoring twice in a seven-second span to take the lead and hold on to take the two points.
Ryan Graves tallied at 16:45 and Jesper Bratt at 16:52, part of a three-goal third period that started with Miles Wood scoring 1:14 into the final frame.
New Jersey has now won five straight and are an impressive 4-1 on the road this campaign.
"We talked about in the second period that good teams have to be able to come back where they're down," Devils coach Lindy Ruff told NHL.com's Derek Van Diest. "We were going to have to put a little bit more gamble in our game. There was a lot we liked in our game, I thought we left some opportunities out there early. That was just two fast teams playing incredibly fast hockey."
"We all had that feeling, we can turn this around, we can play a lot better," said Bratt to Devils.com after the victory. "And we all said if we want to play playoff hockey and win important games at the end of the year these are the games you've got to turn around."
Mackenzie Blackwood started the tilt for the Devils and stopped 16 of the 18 shots he faced. An injury forced him to the bench in the middle stanza with Vitek Vanecek then making 18 saves to finish out the tilt.
Devils.com's Amanda Stein reported that Blackwood did not practice with the team in Calgary Friday.
'DOME HOME: The Flames are set to play their final and eight-straight home game as this season-long eight-game home stand continues. Thus far, The Flames are 3-4-0 on the home stand and 4-4-0 at home on the season. Calgary will hit the road for the first time in three weeks on November 7th with a meeting against the Islanders.
DEVILS WENT DOWN TO CALGARY: The Devils come into the Scotiabank Saddledome tonight losing eight-straight to the Flames dating back to Feb. 3, 2021. In the last 16 meetings between these two teams, the Flames are 14-2-0 going all the way back to Jan. 10, 2012. Last season, as a member of the Florida Panthers, Jonathan Huberdeau notched five points (1G, 4A) in three games against the Devils.
MILESTONE WATCH: Coming into tonight, Jonathan Huberdeau needs one goal for 200 in his career and both Nazem Kadri and Mackenzie Weegar are two assists shy of a milestone. Kadri needs a pair of assists for 300 in his career and Weegar needs two assists for 100 in his career.

Flames - Mikael Backlund
With two points in his last three games, Backlund is closing in on 13th most in franchise history, sitting five points behind Paul Reinhart (445). The centreman is up to four points (3G, 1A) on the season and his assist last game was his 271st, good for 14th in club history.
Devils - Jack Hughes
Sure, you'll want to keep your eye on Bratt given the heater he's been on to start the season, but Hughes is a dynamic young star who can break open a game at any moment. The 2019 first-overall pick is third in team scoring with four goals and 10 points.
Backlund on loss to Preds:
"Not good enough ... we all know we all have to be better."
