  1. LAST TIME OUT
    One down, one to go.
    The plan is simple.
The Flames wrap up this quick three-game homestand with Monday's matinee tilt with the Flyers. Calgary is fresh off a thrilling 3-2 OT victory against the Rangers at the Scotiabank Saddledome Saturday night.

Next up is a three-game road swing with stops in Arizona, Vegas and finally Colorado.
But, as mentioned, first things first: get another big two points and get on the plane with a pair of consecutive wins to keep building on as they drive down the stretch with their eyes set squarely on a playoff berth.
"You know, being in that spot where we are in the standings we need these points," said Jonathan Huberdeau after the team's practice on Sunday. "We're gonna take advantage of this homestand, certainly wasn't too long, but you know, we got the first one now, we want the second one before we get on the road.
"You can build something, build the confidence," he explained. "I think it's important to get that momentum and pile up some wins and get a streak going. (When you do that), you feel good about your game. We want to start building something here."
The victory over the Rangers was a good template, the team rolling four lines and three D pairs, getting outstanding goaltending, and scoring clutch goals, even without star centre Elias Lindholm, who missed the tilt as he and his wife Annica welcomed their first child, son Levi.

"When everybody's going, that's important," explained Huberdeau. "When we're all clicking, we're a different team, a tough team to beat. So that's what we got to do till the end of the year."
As is the case in every NHL outing these days, you can never take the opposition lightly no matter where they are in the standings.
"They're a team that's gonna work hard, they're not gonna quit," said Huberdeau. "So it's gonna be a tough game. Like every game. You know, it's especially (true) these days, every game is huge. And every team is there to win. We have to be ready for that and play our own game."

"For us, it was to kind of make a statement"

2. KNOW YOUR ENEMY
The Flyers fell 6-2 to the Canucks in Vancouver on Saturday in their last outing.
They've now lost three staright and are 4-5-1 in their last 10, sitting at 22-25-10 this season.
Anthony Beauvillier opened the scoring for the homeside at the 14:24 mark of the first period, but Scott Laughton answered back just over a minute later to knot it up.
Andrei Kuzmenko and Beauvillier made it 3-1 in the second before Morgan Frost brought Philly back within one where it stood after 40 minutes.
But Phllip Di Giuseppe scored at the midway point of the final frame and Elias Pettersen tallied his 26th and 27th of the season after that to seal the deal.
"It's hard to reflect right now, but I thought that there was no quit even though you can look at the score, how it ended up. It's not a reflection of the game," Travis Konecny told NHL.com's Kevin Woodley . "We worked really hard, we believed in ourselves and they just had a few more bounces that ended up in net."
Philly peppered the Vancouver net, but Arturs Silovs had a huge night with 35 saves for his first NHL win in his second start for the club.
Meanwhile, Carter Hart finished the night with 17 stops on 21 shots. He singled out Di Giuseppe's marker postgame, blaming himself for a save he should have made.
"They make a couple of good deflections, and that fourth one is on me," he told NHL.com. "That's one that I got to have. It squirts under my glove and that's the game."

  1. QUOTABLE
Andrew Mangiapane on a rare matinee tilt for his club:
"They're fun - fun to play in, right. Obviously you don't have that morning routine in there but both teams are kind of in the same position. You just go out there and play your game and you're usually full of energy."
