When Chris Tanev announced he would be undergoing surgery in the off-season, there were questions surrounding when he would be ready to get back on the ice.
The blueliner suffered a shoulder injury during the playoffs and the recovery period was originally slated as four to six months, which could have delayed his start to the season.
As it turns out, there was no need to worry.
"I haven't talked to the docs - they are going through medicals right now - but we anticipate everything will be good," Flames general manager Brad Treliving. "Chris will be on the ice with the group tomorrow. We may probably not play him in pre-season games initially, the first little bit of pre-season games but we anticipate he will be full-go here starting tomorrow."

While Tanev is expected to be present in Thursday's on-ice sessions, there will be a couple of players missing to start camp.
Up front, the forward group will be without Andrew Mangiapane, who is coming off of a career year that saw him net 35 goals and 55 points in the regular season.
"Andrew Mangiapane had a tweak during some summer skates. We don't anticipate its going to be anything, we anticipate its going to be very short-term. He is skating on his own right now with our medical staff, our skills and development people.
"He will probably rejoin the group here in the next couple of days."
In addition, Treliving noted defenceman Oliver Kylington will not be attendance at the start of training camp.
"Oliver is dealing with personal family issue," Treliving said. "I think it's important to say this is not substance related, substance abuse related. He is dealing with a personal issue, a family issue. The organization is in full support of Oliver. I would just ask media members and people alike to give Oliver some privacy in this time right now. This will be the last I talk of it until I have any other further updates.
"We are fully supportive of Oliver and been in touch with him but we just want to give him some time right now."
