THE MATCH-UP

SAM I AM

21-year-old Sam Bennett has been on a tear lately, posting five points and 20 shots in his last five skates. The forward, who has been playing on the left wing on the third line with Mark Jankowski and Jaromir Jagr/Garnet Hathaway, now has four goals and 11 points in 30 games this year.

ON THE ROAD AGAIN

Tonight's game in Minnesota is a one-off in Minnesota. After spending almost two straight weeks on the road in November, the Flames travel schedule in December is much more compact - a back-to-back set in Toronto and Montreal to start the month, a one-off in Minnesota, another one-off in Vancouver next weekend and a back-to-back in California at the end of the month. The Flames hold a 8-4-2 record on the road this year.

HATH-ING SUCCESS

Since being summoned from Stockton on Nov. 28, Hathaway has been one of the Flames' most effective players. He has four points in the six games he has played since being recalled and has meshed seamlessly with Bennett and Jankowski in Jagr's absence.

INJURY UPDATE

The Flames will be without Jagr (lower body, day-to-day) and Versteeg (hip, month-to-month) this evening. On the Wild's side, Jared Spurgeon has missed six games with a groin strain and Zach Parise, who is on the long-term injured reserve, has missed 29 games due to microdiscectomy surgery.
