WINNIPEG - For posterity:
Game number: 3.
Time of goal: 15:14 of the second period.
Locale: Bell MTS Place in Winnipeg.
Netminder of record: Connor Hellybuyck.
Continuing to improve each successive outing in this late-season big-league audition, Spencer Foo hit paydirt on Thursday night.
For the lavishly-courted collegiate free agent signing out of Union College, the always-memorable first NHL snipe proved to be a case of right place, right time.
A Michael Stone shot from the right point caromed off his right foot and behind Hellybucyk to slice the Winnipeg Jets' advantage to 2-1.
Unfortunately, he and the Calgary Flames failed to make up any more ground, falling by a goal.

"Feels great, obviously,'' said Foo afterwards, when asked about his first goal. "The puck got up to the point and I saw Stoner taking a shot. I got to the net, the d-man boxed me out a little, it found my skate and went in.
"Just joy. A little bit of relief, I guess. It's a long time coming. It's pretty special.
"I'll take it.
"The guys have made it easy on me. I'm just coming to the rink every day trying to improve and I'm feeling more comfortable.
"I treat every game like it's the most important one of my life. I am fighting for spot here.
"I'm just trying to make a solid impression."

Consider the impression made.
"I liked his game,'' critiqued coach Glen Gulutzan. "It maybe wasn't as strong as some of his others but he went to the right places, did a lot of dirty work and got rewarded for it.
"I thought Jon Gillies played a good game tonight, too. A little nervous early but he settled into the game and made some big saves off some big players.
"So I thought the young guys showing well."
Establishing the tempo and outshooting the Jets 15-7 through the opening 19 minutes, Calgary was left to rue two breakaway misses before falling behind on a last-minute first-period goal.
On the first gilt-edged chance, early, Hellybuyck cooly snatched a Michael Frolik shot labelled for the top corner, glove side, out of mid-air. On the second, Johnny Gaudreau sailed in uncontested and had ample time to pick his spot of choice, but the now-43-game winner closed his left arm in time to smother the puck.
Almost on cue, then, Winnipeg captain Blake Wheeler deflected in a Dustin Byfuglien wrecking-ball from the right point, leaving Calgary goaltender Jon Gillies stranded.
Only 48.6 seconds remained until the intermission.
The Jets had doubled their advantage, to 2-0, at 12:59 of the middle frame, when defenceman Ben Chiarot, taking a peek at options as he readied to shoot, spotting trade-deadline addition Paul Stastny cruising through the circle for a nifty deflection goal.
NOTES:The Flames finish the road portion of the schedule at 20-15-2-4 …. Gaudreau has the seasonal curtain-dropper Saturday to add one more assist to his current total of 59 and become the first Flame since Theo Fleury in 1992-93 to finish with 60 ore more helpers.
