Phillips, a native of Calgary, Alberta, led the Stockton Heat (AHL) in scoring last season with 31 goals and 37 assists for 68 points which were career-highs in each category. Phillips' 68 points was tied for the ninth most in the American Hockey League in 2021-22. The 24-year-old was drafted by the Flames in the sixth round (116th overall) in the 2016 NHL Draft.
