Poolman, a native of East Grand Forks, MN originally signed with the Flames as a college free agent in March of 2020 following a four year collegiate career at the University of North Dakota. He was captain of the Fighting Hawks his final two seasons. In his first professional season with the Stockton Heat, the 6'1" blue-liner recorded six points in 21 games.
