Simon, a native of Prague, Czech Republic, played last year with the Pittsburgh Penguins where he scored seven goals and added 15 assists for 22 points in 64 games. The veteran of 173 NHL games has spent his entire career with the Penguins which started in 2015-16 after being drafted in the fifth round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.
Internationally, Simon represented the Czech Republic at the 2014 World Junior Championship where he scored a pair of goals and added two assists for four points in five games and also represented his country at the World Championship in 2015, with a goal and five assists for six points in 10 games.
