Calgary Flames prospects Tyler Parsons and Adam Fox have been named to USA Hockey's final 23-man roster for the 2017 IIHF World Junior Championship.
The tournament begins on Dec. 26 and runs until Jan. 5, 2017 in Toronto, ON and Montreal, QC.
Parsons, selected in the second round of the 2016 NHL Draft, has a 11-1-3 record with a 2.46 GAA and a .916 save percentage with the London Knights in Ontario Hockey League this year. He helped lead the Knights to an OHL Championship and Memorial Cup win in the 2015-16 season.
"He's a real competitive kid, he's really athletic, he's a battler, and he's won," Flames general manager Brad Treliving said after the draft. "There's still lots of growth to come but they love his resume, love how competitive he is and love the athleticism."
Fox, a third round pick in this past summer's draft, is in his freshman season with Harvard. The defenceman has 16 points in 11 games this year, averaging 1.45 points-per-game. His 15 assists lead all defencemen in the conference and he sits ninth overall in the ECAC scoring race.
"To be able to go in and be over a point a game already, as a defenceman … wow," Flames assistant general manager Craig Conroy told CalgaryFlames.com.
"He's playing his game, already. There's no feeling out period, no nervousness."
