INFERNO SELECT 13 PLAYERS IN CWHL DRAFT

With the fifth overall selection in the 2017 Canadian Women's Hockey League Draft on Sunday, the Calgary Inferno drafted defenceman Taryn Baumgardt from Quinnipiac University.
Baumgardt, who hails from Innisfail, AB, closed out her collegiate career with six goals and 17 points in 37 games in the 2016-17 campaign. In 150 career games in the NCAA, Baumgardt scored six goals and 43 points.
The 22-year-old was one of 13 Inferno selections in this year's draft:

68th Overall - Megan Grenon - Defence

87th Overall - Krista Wilson - Right Wing

This year's draft class will be looked upon to bolster a roster that has lost nine players to Hockey Canada's centralization process ahead of the 2018 Winter Olympic Games in PyeongChang, South Korea. Goaltender Genevieve Lacasse, defence Brigette Lacquette and Meaghan Mikkelson and forwards Bailey Bram, Haley Irwin, Brianne Jenner, Rebecca Johnson, Jillian Saulnier, and Blayre Turnbull are among the 28 players vying for a spot on Canada's Olympic roster.
