ST. LOUIS - The Flames did not have a pre-game skate this morning ahead of tonight's tilt with the defending Stanley Cup champion Blues.
Head coach Bill Peters explained the reason for that.
"Well, we got in a little bit late (Wednesday) and had a real good practice coming off a day that we played," he said. "Had to have an early skate at Winsport (Wednesday before flying out). Made for a long day.
"We skated at 11 and it was a physical type practice, it was a hard practice, so no need to have a pre-game sate here. Save it for seven o'clock."
When asked if his lines and D pairings would be similar to those that skated in the Wednesday tune-up, he replied: "Very similar."
David Rittich will get the start in net.
Both Tobias Rieder and defenceman Alexander Yelesin were called up from Stockton yesterday and have joined the team here in St. Louis.
Worth noting, the Blues signed former Flames forward Troy Brouwer to a one-year deal yesterday, the team battling injury woes of their own.
However, coach Craig Berube said the veteran will not play tonight.
