BACKLUND ON ANDERSSON'S ACCIDENT:

ON HOW HE FOUND OUT:

"It was Mangiapane who came over - same restaurant last night. Mangiapane and Rasmus' wife work together in Calgary and Rasmus obviously called his wife and told Mangi's wife, and she called him and then he told us."

ON FACING THE RED WINGS:

"It's going to be a fun game. First time playing them this year and we haven't played them in a long time. They're a really good team, some really good young players and they play a fast game. We've got to be on our toes here from the start, have a good start, and play a similar game to New York - maybe not give up as many scoring chances as we did, clean a little bit of that up. But other than that, I thought we played a good game. Guys on our backend are going to have to step up with Ras being out."

"You're shocked - could have been a lot worse"

HANIFIN ON ANDERSSON:

"It's scary, obviously. Being one of our teammates and getting the call and hearing something like that is definitely something you dread as a player. Fortunately, he seems to be doing alright. He got back to the hotel last night and just really happy it wasn't worse than it was.
"He seems good, he seems like he was in good spirits this morning and was kind of telling us the story and everything."

ON PLAYING WITH TANEV TONIGHT:

"I have some experience playing with him in the past and he's obviously a really easy guy to play with. He's unbelievable defensively, communicates (well) on the ice, good skater, so just got to go out and do my job, move my feet, and hopefully we'll have some success tonight."

"Really happy it wasn't worse than it was"

SUTTER ON ANDERSSON:

"Thankful, that's for sure. I've had those calls before. It kind of puts things into perspective, in a hurry."

ON D PAIRS IN ANDERSSON'S ABSENCE:

"Fortunate in the sense that guys like Noah and Tanny have played together, so they can move around. Weegs, again. We've got guys that can play both sides.
"I was just talking to MacKenzie about putting him in different situations more and things like that. Literally yesterday.
"It's not ideal, obviously. You take a big-minutes guy against good players and special teams, it's not ideal."

ON POWERPLAY UNIT WITHOUT ANDERSSON:

"We'll put the righty (Weegar) in there. That's the way we've been working the last few days. Just slide MacKenzie right in there was Ras was."
