DARRYL SUTTER ON HIS FIRST GAME TONIGHT:

ON RETURNING TO THE BENCH:

"I can be the same coach I've always been in the past. It keeps getting better, actually. When you're talking about the biggest changes, for me, (they're) making sure I'm clear on some of the tweaks in the rule book. It's got nothing to do with the game or personnel."

ON THE TEAM'S LEADERSHIP:

"Gio is the captain of the Calgary Flames for all the right reasons. I rely on him heavily. I've known him since he was 20 years old. I'm counting on him big time, not just on the ice, but off the ice, too, and he's all in on that."

ELIAS LINDHOLM ON FIRST GAME UNDER SUTTER:

"He's coming in here (after) two good practices and everyone's pretty pumped up. It's been a good pace during practice and the boys are excited to go tonight."

MARK GIORDANO ON SUTTER, 15 YEARS LATER:

"I see a lot of the same guy. Darryl's principles are the same, what he expects from the players, the intensity he expects and the detail that he brings into games. Coming in here to game day, it's a full day of preparation and he started us here this morning, and we'll carry it through to tonight."

ON FULL YEAR IN A PANDEMIC

What was he doing on the night of March 11, 2020?
"I was at home. We had a game the next day, so watching (the NBA) on TV get cancelled, you knew at that point as players, it wasn't looking good as far as professional sports being able to move forward. We played the Islanders the next day and we came in and obviously the game was cancelled. From that point on, it's been something none of us could have envisioned or expected. To think back and it's been a year, hopefully we can get out of this soon. We've got to give a lot of credit to the frontline workers and doctors, but in society, there's still a lot of time to go. I wouldn't have expected it to be this long after hearing that news."
