SAY WHAT: 'EXCITED TO GET GOING'

ANDERSSON ON STARTING THE SEASON:

ON DEFENDING THE AVS:

"You know they have a lot of dangerous players. MacKinnon, Makar, Toews, Rantanen... I could keep going all day. You've got to control them and you've got to play against them, too. You can't just back off. When you back off, that's when they're dangerous. We've got to control them and make them defend."

ON PAIRING WITH HANIFIN:

"We have a lot of confidence in each other and I think we showed that last year. But it's a new season, it's a new beginning and we all start from zero. We've got to go out there and prove every night we're a really good D pairing and that's what we're capable of."

ON KADRI FACING HIS OLD TEAM:

"You're still trying to get to know each other and especially what his routines are before a real game. Maybe in a couple weeks I'll give it to him a bit more. As of today, everyone has their own routines. Some guys like to talk and some guys (don't) like to talk. We have a lot of new bodies on this team and you just try to figure out everyone's routine and go from there."

MANGIAPANE ON KICKING OFF THE YEAR:

"Obviously, there's excitement. That comes to mind right away. I think we're ready to go. We've had a good couple weeks of camp and I think we're just kind of waiting for it, waiting to get ready. The last couple days, you see a couple games on TV and now you're (thinking), 'OK, it's our turn.' Should be exciting and I think all the guys here are excited to get going."

ON FACING THE DEFENDING CHAMPS:

"Obviously, they've got some good players over there. It's more just focusing on our game. We've got to limit their time and space with the puck. I think it's more about us, playing our game, figuring out how to gel and build our chemistry together."

ON LINE WITH KADRI AND DUBE:

"Those guys are two great hockey players. Smart, fast, skilled. We still need to build our chemistry and that helps getting into our first game tonight. Again, it's just an exciting time. We've got to keep going, keep playing and just figuring it out. It's just getting into the rhythm of things now and figuring it out together."

ON HIGH EXPECTATIONS THIS YEAR:

"We had a good season last year and the majority of guys are still here, so as a group we want to do better. That's our goal coming into it. It's just don't really think too much about the outside - just worry about the inside and worry about winning a game at a time and getting together as a team."
