"I think as a player it can be a bit of a distraction, but it's part of the business, part of the game. Teams are buying and selling, so it's something you've got to deal with. But at the end of the day, we've got to focus on what's going on in here and we need to do better. We just got to continue to do what we've been doing and I think luck's going to come."
"We gotta stay alive here"
BACKLUND ON FACING THE LEAFS:
"It's always fun when they come into town. Creates a little extra buzz in the building. A lot of Leafs fans. Our fans are always great and it's always a fun game to play. We know they're a really good team and they stocked up, so it should be a fun night."
ON BUILDING OFF LAST GAME:
"We can come out and play the same way, have the same start as we did last game. I thought we had a really good start and we came out had a lot of energy and played with some good pace out there, created a lot of chances. We've got to stick to that and at the end of the day, find a way to win."
ON THE SEASON HE'S HAVING:
"I feel like I wanted to build off how I played in the playoffs last year. I felt like last year's regular season was an off year regular season for me, and wanted to show this year that I can still be a really good player in this league and wanted to prove to myself and everyone else that I could be a really good player in this league. I always said I always wanted to be like a nice, fine red wine. That's why I keep pushing myself."
ON CAREER-HIGH PACE:
I" always push myself and always strive to be better. This year, mentally, I've pushed myself and had a mentally prepare every night, every day. Not that I've lacked it before, but it's something I've really worked on and trying to improve on even more."
ON PELLETIER AND DUEHR:
"They're great guys. They've been great players for us and I'm really excited that they're with us up here. They played really well in the minors the last couple years and they're deserving to be here with us and they bring a lot of energy, passion and work ethic on the ice. They both have a different skill-set, but they both bring it. I'm really excited both are here."
"It's always fun when they come to town"
WEEGAR ON CRUCIAL GAME TONIGHT:
"We have some work to do. Obviously, we'd like to be in a better position, but we're still in the thick of things here and we still have a shot of getting a spot in the playoffs. We're right there and we have a lot of belief in this room, so we're looking to get the job done tonight."
"For us, it's just focusing on our dressing room"
SUTTER ON THE LEAFS:
"Watched them last night. Obviously, we played them once already. Interesting, just doing it, between the two (teams) - not just because of their changes, but because of the schedule, injuries, rosters, all that - there can be 13 different players in the lineup tonight for both teams. That's a lot."
ON STRONG STARTS:
"You've just got to put shifts together and get an 'over and over' attitude with your group. When you get into your schedule again when you're in a busy schedule, you can't have any... You need close to 'A' games from everybody."
"We have to keep the focus on our group"
ON DUEHR (AND HIS LINE WITH LUCIC & LEWIS):
"I think they were really good last game. I think they tailed off at the end of the trip again, but I think they tried to make a difference last game. Walker, alone, gives you some speed there, which makes a big difference. I think that's visible."
