Sabres foundation: Our programs

The NHL Foundations' grantmaking program seeks organizations focused on best practices, program delivery and measuring outcomes. The areas of support identified focus on the NHL Foundations’ priorities and funding strategies.

Areas of Support

Youth Development

The NHL Foundations offer support for projects and programs dedicated to nurturing the skills of youth aged 18 and under, contributing to their social and emotional development. By financing these endeavors, we aim to connect students with experienced mentors, boost their academic performance, cultivate leadership abilities, enhance graduation rates, mitigate youth-related risks, and promote progress in social and emotional development.

Social Equity

The NHL Foundations are dedicated to fostering a fair and inclusive society, one that offers opportunities for every individual to flourish, irrespective of their background, physical attributes, or affiliation with culturally marginalized groups. We are committed to promoting equity and harmony through initiatives and programs that place a premium on diminishing isolation, combating racism, addressing bullying, and reconnecting culturally disconnected communities.

Health and Well-Being

The NHLFoundations back initiatives and programs designed to tackle health-related obstacles that hinder the academic and recreational achievements of individuals aged 18 and under. By providing funding for nutrition education, mental health resources, and endeavors aimed at eradicating food scarcity, we aim to enhance the prospects of young individuals in cultivating both robust physical and mental well-being.

Pathway to Hockey

The NHL Foundations aim to support efforts that offer access, exposure and career paths to those who have historically been underrepresented in hockey. Funding will be channeled into workforce development and education via sector-specific training programs, which not only enhance skill sets but also prepare individuals for promising careers within the sports industry.
