RALEIGH, NC. -Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has acquired forward Jack Dugan from the New Jersey Devils in exchange for defenseman Zack Hayes.

"Jack is a good-sized forward who has shown his scoring ability both in college and the AHL, and he will add to our organization's offensive depth," said Waddell.
Dugan, 24, has posted 27 points (11g, 16a) in 51 American Hockey League (AHL) games with Utica this season and ranks tied for fifth on the team in scoring. The 6'2", 209-pound winger has skated in 123 career AHL games with Henderson and Utica from 2021-23, tallying 78 points (27g, 51a). Prior to turning professional, Dugan played two seasons of college hockey at Providence from 2018-20, earning 91 points (20g, 71a) in 75 games. In his sophomore season with the Friars, he led all Division I skaters in assists (42) and points (52) and was named a top-10 finalist for the Hobey Baker Award, given annually to the top collegiate player. The Pittsburgh, Pa., native also played 54 USHL games with the Chicago Steel in 2017-18, registering 66 points (31g, 35a). Dugan was originally selected by the Golden Knights in the fifth round, 142nd overall, of the 2017 NHL Draft.
Hayes, 23, was acquired from Vegas on Nov. 30, 2022, and has recorded four points (2g, 2a) in 28 AHL games with Henderson and Chicago this season. The 6'3", 224-pound defenseman has earned 21 points (6g, 15a) in 117 career AHL games with the Silver Knights and Wolves. The Calgary, Alta., native has skated in three career NHL games, all with the Golden Knights in 2021-22.
