The Hurricanes clinched their fifth consecutive berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs on March 21, before winning their second consecutive Metropolitan Division title and third straight division championship on April 13. Carolina will face the New York Islanders in the First Round, opening the series at PNC Arena on Monday, April 17, and Wednesday, April 19. The Hurricanes posted a series sweep of the Islanders in the 2019 Second Round in their only previous playoff meeting, and Carolina will now look to defeat New York again to win a playoff series for the fifth straight campaign. In their 25 years in North Carolina, the Hurricanes have won six division championships (1999, 2002, 2006, 2021, 2022, 2023), advanced to the Conference Final four times (2002, 2006, 2009, 2019), played in two Stanley Cup Finals (2002, 2006) and captured one Stanley Cup championship (2006).
