RALEIGH, NC - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has assigned forward Jamieson Rees to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League (AHL). Rees was placed on the injured non-roster list at the start of the season and underwent meniscal surgery on his right knee on October 12.

Rees, 20, skated in three preseason games with Carolina in 2021, posting one assist. During his first professional season in 2020-21, the 5'10", 182-pound center recorded 14 points (8g, 6a) in 29 AHL games with the Wolves, ranking tied for second on the team with two game-winning goals. Prior to turning professional, Rees tallied 113 points (33g, 80a) in 122 career Ontario Hockey League (OHL) games with Sarnia from 2017-20, serving as an alternate captain for the Sting in 2019-20. The Hamilton, Ont., native has represented Canada at the 2018 Hlinka Gretzky Cup and 2019 IIHF Under-18 World Championship, winning a gold medal in 2018. He also played for Canada Black at the 2017 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge. Rees was selected by the Hurricanes in the second round, 44th overall, of the 2019 NHL Draft.
