The "reversed" version of the team's current white road sweater, the team will wear them twice at PNC Arena this season:
The Hurricanes will sport the new sweaters with black helmets, black gloves and black pants.
"As a brand and organization, we aren't afraid to do things a little non-traditionally. In working with adidas and the NHL, we decided to stretch the definition of retro a bit on this one and focus on creating an appealing design without much of a gimmick factor," Canes Chief Marketing Officer Mike Forman remarked. "The final jersey design for these was due in June of 2021, so we utilized a couple of regular season games last April to on-ice test uniform/equipment combinations and liked the result of mixing our red uniforms with black equipment with the upcoming Reverse Retro campaign firmly in mind."
