RALEIGH, NC - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has signed defenseman Gustav Forsling to a one-year, two-way contract. The deal will pay Forsling $700,000 in the NHL or $250,000 in the American Hockey League (AHL) for the 2020-21 season.

"Gustav is a dependable defenseman that fits our system at both the NHL and AHL level," Waddell said. "Our organizational depth at defense is strong, and Gustav is a representation of that."
Forsling, 24, registered 26 points (8g, 18a) in 57 AHL games with the AHL's Charlotte Checkers last season. The 6'0", 186-pound defenseman set AHL career highs in goals, assists, points and games played in 2019-20 and ranked fourth among Checkers defensemen in points and goals. Forsling has earned 41 points (11g, 30a) in 110 AHL games with Rockford and Charlotte. The Linkoping, Sweden, native was selected by Vancouver in the fifth round, 126th overall, in the 2014 NHL Draft and has recorded 27 points (8g, 19a) in 122 career NHL games with the Chicago Blackhawks.
