RALEIGH, NC - Don Waddell, President and General Manager of the National Hockey League's Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has signed defenseman Michal Cajkovsky to a one-year, two-way contract worth $650,000 at the NHL level and $70,000 at the AHL level. Cajkovsky had been attending Carolina's training camp on a professional try-out.

"Michal has earned this contract through his performance in camp," said Waddell. "We feel that adding him helps solidify our organizational depth on defense."

Cajkovsky, 26, played for Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg (KHL) in 2017-18, registering 19 points (7g, 12a) in 43 games. The Bratislava, Slovakia, native represented his country at the 2017 and 2018 IIHF World Championships, as well as the 2018 Winter Olympics.
The 6'4", 214-pound defenseman played three seasons in the Ontario Hockey League from 2010-12 with Kingston and Ottawa, recording 70 points (17g, 53a) in 192 games. He played two professional seasons in North America with Reading (ECHL), Hershey (AHL) and South Carolina (ECHL) from 2013-15 before going to play in Europe. Cajkovsky appeared in 68 Czech Extraliga games with HC Sparta Praha, posting 40 points (18g, 22a), then signed with Avtomobolist in 2016. He registered 34 points (12g, 22a) in 63 KHL games from 2016-18.
