The Hurricanes clinched their third consecutive berth in the Stanley Cup playoffs on April 26 and clinched the Central Division championship on May 7. As the top seed in the Central Division, Carolina will take on the fourth-seeded Nashville Predators, while Tampa Bay and Florida face-off in the first round. The winners of each series will then compete for a spot in the Stanley Cup Semifinals. In their 23-year history in North Carolina, the Hurricanes have advanced to the Conference Final four times, the Stanley Cup Final twice and captured a Stanley Cup championship in 2006.
