Carolina Hurricanes forward Micheal Ferland has been diagnosed with a concussion, according to head coach Rod Brind'Amour.
Ferland logged 12:37 of ice time in a 2-1 win in Montreal on Tuesday. He did not practice with the Hurricanes on Thursday.

The 26-year-old forward is now in the concussion protocol and will remain sidelined until he's medically cleared. His status for the upcoming California road trip remains unknown.
Ferland has tallied 15 points, including a team-leading 11 goals, in 24 gams this season. His five power-play markers are also a team-best.
Forward Clark Bishop was recalled from Charlotte and will center the team's fourth line against the Anaheim Ducks on Friday night. Sebastian Aho will slide over to the wing opposite Teuvo Teravainen on a line centered by Jordan Staal.
"This is when you need your other guys to step up," Brind'Amour said.
In other injury news, defensemen Brett Pesce (lower body) and Haydn Fleury (concussion) are nearing return. Both players skated with the Canes on Thursday and Friday.
"Real close. That's what I was told yesterday and again today. They skated and felt fine," Brind'Amour said. "Hopefully they'll be back shortly."
