Last Game...

  • A young Canes roster put up a good fight on Monday night in Sunrise, but ultimately fell in overtime to the Panthers by a score of 4-3.
  • Alexander Nikishin and Justin Robidas both had multiple points (1 G, 1 A) and Frederik Andersen made 18 saves on 20 shots in 40 minutes of work.

Veteran Rule...

  • As a reminder, NHL teams must dress at least eight “veterans” in each preseason contest. “Veterans” are skaters who played 30 NHL games the previous season, goalies who dressed in 50 NHL games or played in 30 NHL games the previous year, any player who has played 100+ NHL games, or a current year first-round pick.
  • Following a healthy amount of roster trimming over the last week, tonight's group features many of the names expected to comprise this year's roster, including Jalen Chatfield and Mark Jankowski, who are slated to make their preseason debuts this evening.

Seeing A Familiar Face...

  • Now-former Carolina Hurricanes forward Tyson Jost was claimed off waivers on Wednesday by the Nashville Predators. He is expected to make his preseason debut for the Preds this afternoon against his former club.

In Net...

  • Tonight will feature one or both of Pyotr Kochetkov and Cayden Primeau between the pipes for Carolina.
  • Kochetkov dealt with a minor injury through most of camp, so tonight marks the first time this preseason that the Russian backstop has been named to a lineup.
  • Primeau, meanwhile, has stopped 36 of 40 total shots faced in two starts this preseason, and held down the fort during the Canes' win over Nashville on Sept. 28.

Injury Updates...

  • Forward Juha Jaaska has been dealing with a minor injury since Sept. 21.
  • Forward Jesperi Kotkaniemi took a stick to the face during the team's exhibition game against Tampa on Sept. 26 and did not return. He returned to practice in a non-contact sweater on Oct. 3.

What Are We Wearing?

  • The Canes are scheduled to wear their new white uniforms for all six preseason games.

What's Next After This Game?

  • The Canes are set to be off on Sunday. They'll return to practice on Monday for a string of skates leading up to Thursday's regular-season opener.
  • Next Game: Opening Night | Thursday, Oct. 9 vs. New Jersey | 7:00 p.m. ET | Tickets | Parking
