Futureeeeeeee!

  • Among those scheduled to play this evening are 2023 first round pick Bradly Nadeau, last year's training camp darling Felix Unger Sorum, and 2024 Hobey Baker Finalist Jackson Blake.
  • The three combined unofficially for nine points in three games during last week's Prospects Showcase in Nashville.
  • The trio has worked together as a line thus far in training camp and are expected to again this evening.

Veteran Rule

  • As a reminder, NHL teams must dress at least eight “veterans” in each preseason contest. “Veterans” are skaters who played 30 NHL games the previous season, goalies who dressed in 50 NHL games or played in 30 NHL games the previous year, any player who has played 100+ NHL games, or a current year first-round pick.

Past Preseasons

  • Carolina posted a 3-3-0 record in six exhibition games last year, including a preseason-opening win against Tampa Bay. Since the franchise relocated to Raleigh, the Hurricanes own a 14-8-1-1 record in preseason games against the Lightning.

Fresh Faces

  • 12 players in tonight's lineup have not yet appeared in a regular season game with the Carolina Hurricanes.
  • Skyler Brind'Amour, Sam Gagner, and Rocco Grimaldi are attending training camp on professional tryouts.
  • Aleksi Heimosalmi, Anttoni Honka, Charles-Alexis Legault, Ronan Seeley, and Felix Unger Sorum are draft picks of the organization, in the early stages of their pro careers.
  • Juha Jaaska, Tyson Jost, and Eric Robinson were signed as free agents this offseason and Ty Smith was acquired from Pittsburgh in a trade in March.

Injury Updates

  • Forward Jesper Fast was ruled out for the 2024-25 season in August after having neck surgery.
  • Defenseman Riley Stillman (lower-body injury) has worked in a no-contact sweater each day of training camp thus far.
  • Forward William Carrier (lower-body injury) is day-to-day. He has not practiced with the team since Thursday, but did take to the ice by himself to do some skating following Monday's practice.

What Are We Wearing?

  • The team will be wearing their white sweaters for all six preseason games.
