Last Time Out:The Canes fell behind 4-0 in the first 23 minutes against Colorado on Saturday, a hole that wound up too big to dig out of. To add salt to the wound, the team also lost Jordan Staal, their best offensive weapon as of late, and Frederik Andersen, one of the top statistical goaltenders in the NHL all season, to injury in the third period.
Health Updates:Carolina did not practice Sunday, therefore no further updates were available on either Staal or Andersen.
Staal Score:Before the Canes' captain departed the game after being hit by Cale Makar, #11 had scored twice against Colorado, his third multi-goal contest in 10 days. With eight goals in his last six games played, nobody on the team has been hotter than Staal, who has now upped his season total to 16 goals, with 14 of them coming after the All-Star break.
Kochetkov O'Clock:Although there was not an update available on the Andersen Sunday, the team did recall goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov on an emergency basis from the Chicago Wolves. The 22-year-old started the season in the KHL, posting a .926 SV% for Torpedo Nizhny Novgorod before their shortened season came to a close. After making the move to North American in February, Kotchetkov then dominated the AHL, posting a 13-1-1 record with a .921 SV%. Now, his time has come to wear a Canes sweater.
Power Play Skid Snapped:The Canes entered Saturday night in Denver on an unfortunate streak of 0-for-17 on the power play. It had become a topic of both discussion and frustration surrounding the team, but Andrei Svechnikov was able to break that tough stretch during the third period. Both Rod Brind'Amour and the players alike have stated that it's something they want to get righted before the playoffs begin, so keep an eye on the man advantage tonight.
30 For Andre:Svechnikov's tally against the Avs was his 30th of the year, marking the first time in his career that he's hit that number. #37 enters tonight with five points in his last four games.
DeAngelo Is Dishin':Tony DeAngelo recorded his 38th assist of the season on Saturday, now tying him with Frantisek Kaberle for the second-most in any Canes single-season. The only player to ever record more is Joni Pitkanen, who had 40 during the 2009-10 season.
Local Ties:In addition to DeAngelo, Jordan Martinook, Antti Raanta and Max Domi have all played for Arizona in their careers.
A Look At The Other Side:A difficult season for the Coyotes has been extra trying as of late, as they've now lost six in a row and been outscored 38-7 during that stretch. As the numbers indicate, they've struggled to generate offense, producing a league-low 24.6 shots per game over the course of those six games. The team is also now without their leading scorer, Clayton Keller, who suffered a broken leg on March 31 after publishing 63 points in 67 games.

Milestones Within Reach: Max Domi's first goal with the Canes will be the 100th of his NHL career. Teuvo Teravainen is two goals shy of 100 as a member of the team.
