PREVIOUS MEETINGS:
THE QUICK HITS:
Last Time Out:It's been four days since the Canes come up short in Minnesota, putting a bow on their 1-2-1 road trip to stat the second half. Andrei Svechnikov scored twice just 1:21 apart to give his team some life after they trailed 3-0 early in the third period, however, ultimately Carolina could not complete the comeback. Frederik Andersen stopped 24 of 27 in just his seventh regulation loss of the year.
One More Shot At The Juggernaut:Rod Brind'Amour praised the Panthers at All-Star Weekend in Vegas, calling them the "juggernaut team". The two teams have met twice already this year with the Canes feeling like they shot themselves in the foot early in their November meeting, and then earning a point against them just five weeks ago with their number three netminder in the cage. Carolina's head coach spoke highly of Florida again Tuesday, saying that their transition game is one of the key parts to their game and gave big credit to how they "get everyone involved" on offense. This is the final meeting between these two teams in the regular season.
Warmed Up vs. Coming In Cold:Tonight will be the fifth game post-All-Star break for Carolina already. It will be the first for the Panthers, who have not played since February 1.
Scorching Svech:#37 was the Carolina Hurricanes' offense Saturday night in Minnesota, etching his 19th and 20th of the season as the team's lone two goals. He joins Sebastian Aho as the only two members of the club to reach 20 thus far this season. It's the third time in his four NHL seasons that Svech has reached that amount and he is well on pace to smash his current career-high of 24. The left-handed winger now has 18 points in his last 12 games, including seven multi-point performances.
Aho vs. Florida:Speaking of Aho, #20 has 23 points in 22 career games against the Cats. His 48 total points in 43 games leads all Hurricanes skaters this season.
National Television:In case you missed it in the subhead, or the "Where To Watch" above, tonight's broadcast will be on TNT. Bally Sports broadcasts will resume on Friday against Nashville. Brendan Burke, Darren Pang and Jennifer Botterill will have the call on television, as Mike Mansicalco and Tripp Tracy will be on radio.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
Milestone Watch:Nino Niederreiter is expected to play in his 200th game as a Hurricane tonight.
Antti Raanta is one win shy of 100 in his NHL career. Derek Stepan is one point shy of 500 for his NHL career.
What Color Are We Wearing?:The team will be wearing their black sweaters tonight.
