Series Recaps:
THE QUICK HITS:
Since The Final Horn:On Tuesday only the players that did not play in Monday night's win (Bear, Lorentz, Stepan, LaFontaine and Kochetkov) touched the ice for Carolina, while the Bruins held a full team practice.
In Net For The B's:Boston's Bruce Cassidy announced Tuesday that he'll be going back to Linus Ullmark in net again tonight. Ullmark allowed four goals on 35 shots in Monday's Game One.
Making A First Impression:Rookie Seth Jarvis recorded a point for an eighth consecutive game Monday, redirecting home the game's opening goal in the second period. With four goals and four assists dating back to April 16, the right-handed forward has taken his play to a new level since coming back from a stint of being healthy scratched in March. No first-year player in the NHL had more points from March 6 through the end of the regular season than Jarvis, who had 21 points in 24 games.
Physicality & Full Team Effort:The two sides combined for 90 hits Monday night, with Carolina publishing 48 of them. Every single skater for Carolina registered at least one hit, the first time since January 2, 2010 that has happened.
Staying Hot:Monday's Game One victory for Carolina was their seventh consecutive victory. They concluded the regular season winners of six straight.
Playing The Full 60:The Canes finished the regular season with a league-best +45 goal differential in the third period. They outscored Boston 3-1 in Monday's third period as well.
Get The First One:Boston scored the game-opening goal in 49 of their 82 regular season games this year. They won 37 of them. One of only three teams better than them? Carolina, who also scored first in 49/82, winning 39. As we saw Monday night, Carolina scored first and won.
ADDITIONAL NOTES:
What Are We Wearing?:The Canes will be wearing their black sweaters for all home games in the 2022 Stanley Cup Playoffs.
More Milestones:Jaccob Slavin is just one point shy of passing Dave Babych for the most points by a defenseman in franchise postseason history.
