Sabres Last Game: 6-4 Win over the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday, November 4

Last Time Out

  • The Canes trailed 3-0 with 12 minutes remaining in the second period Saturday night on Long Island. The group didn't give up though, chipping away and forcing overtime with three unanswered goals. Then, in the extra session, Sebastian Aho made it four in a row, completing the come-from-behind victory for Carolina.

Fine Playing From Behind

  • Although they have seven wins this season, the Canes have scored first in just two of them.

Late First Period Backbreakers

  • In 12 games, Carolina has allowed a goal in the final five minutes of the opening stanza four times. All four have resulted in Carolina either trailing or losing their would-have-been lead at the end of 20 minutes.

Building The Team Game

  • Despite some of their adversity early in games, Rod Brind'Amour said on Monday that he's been pleased with the direction of the team's overall game. Battling their injury troubles and trying to integrate their newcomers into the mix, Carolina has yet to play a game with all of their expected lineup regulars available.

Home Cookin'

  • The Canes are 3-0 at PNC Arena this season. They've allowed just five goals in those three games.

Point Night

  • Sebastian Aho (24 points in 16 games), Seth Jarvis (6 points in 6 games), Andrei Svechnikov (11 points in 8 games), and Teuvo Teravainen (20 points in 19 games) are all averaging a point-per-game or better in their careers against the Sabres.  Aho's totals are tied for the highest points per game of any active skater with at least five games played against Buffalo.

In Net

  • After the shocking announcement that Frederik Andersen is dealing with a blood clotting issue on Monday, it is expected that the team will lean on Antti Raanta moving forward. The team recalled Pyotr Kochetkov from Syracuse (AHL) last night as well, and the team brought in Jaroslav Halak on a PTO. Halak cannot play until he is signed to a contract though.

On The Other Side

  • Although they enter tonight .500, the Sabres have won three of their last four, including impressive victories over Colorado, Philadelphia, and Toronto. Former Hurricane Jeff Skinner currently shares a tie for the team lead with 11 points in 12 games. Team-wise, most of Buffalo's numbers are in the middle of the pack in most statistical categories, but their penalty kill sits fifth in the league, killing off 89.1% of tries.

Injury Updates

  • Forward Ryan Suzuki is close to playing in his first games of the season, per Brind'Amour on November 1. The 2019 first-round pick suffered a shoulder injury during the team's preseason game in Nashville on October 5.
  • Defenseman Brett Pesce suffered a lower-body injury on October 19 in Seattle. Initially announced that he would miss 2-4 weeks, the defender returned to practice in a no-contact sweater on Monday (11/6).
  • Goaltender Frederik Andersen is sidelined indefinitely after the team announced on November 6 that he is dealing with a blood clotting issue.

What Are We Wearing?
