In Net:Frederik Andersen has now allowed just one goal in three consecutive starts after getting a shot in Game 6 of the first round for the Canes. Not looking back, this afternoon could be the first time during the 2022-23 campaign (regular season or postseason) that "Zilla" starts four games in a row for Carolina. Antti Raanta missed Friday's Game 2 due to an illness and although Rod Brind'Amour said he was feeling better on Saturday, he also said that the goaltender was "not great". Pyotr Kochetkov backed up Andersen in the 6-1 victory.
Go Fish:Sebastian Aho enters tonight with points in five consecutive games, dating back to Game 4 of the Islanders series. It is the longest streak by any Canes player this postseason.
Preparing For Vanecek:Rookie Akira Schmid started the first two games in net for New Jersey, but after being pulled in both contests, the expectation is that New Jersey will be turning to Vitek Vanecek, who entered in relief Wednesday and Friday. Vanecek started the first two games of the Devils' first-round series against the Rangers but lost both before New Jersey's coaching staff turned to the younger Schmid.
More Changes For NJ:Jesper Fast's first-period hit on New Jersey's Ryan Graves left the defenseman injured and eventually ruled out for today's game. In his place will enter 2021 #4 overall selection Luke Hughes, who joined the Devils from the University of Michigan in April.
Shooting For Three:Carolina went 46-5-5 when scoring three goals or more during the regular season, including two wins against the Devils. They are 4-0 in the postseason when reaching the benchmark.
