WASHINGTON, D.C. -Ethan Bear will not play due to a lower-body injury Monday night as the Carolina Hurricanes take on the Washington Capitals.

The injury opens the door for Brendan Smith to draw back into the lineup for the first time in eight days.
In terms of the forward group, the same lines from Saturday's 7-2 victory over St. Louis are expected.
Lastly, in net, Frederik Andersen has the nod. It will be his third time this season taking on Washington. Through 43 starts this year the All-Star is 31-10-3 with a 2.07 goals against average and a .926 save percentage.
