Cole will play in place of Brendan Smith, who left Friday night's game against New York early in the third period after he was boarded by Casey Cizikas. Smith did take part in morning skate, but won't play tonight as a precaution.
Up front Derek Stepan was the odd man out once again, as Steven Lorentz skated alongside Max Domi and Jordan Martinook during rushes.
Lastly, it remains to be seen who will start in net tonight for the Canes. Frederik Andersen was in the starter's crease, but Antti Raanta was also not on the ice.
After skate Rod Brind'Amour said that Andersen will more than likely play due to Raanta not feeling 100%, but if Raanta says he's good to go later, they may reconsider. Andersen stopped 19 of 21 in Friday night's 2-1 defeat to the New York Islanders and his 2.07 goals against average (GAA) remains atop all league goaltenders.
