WINNIPEG, MB. -Carolina Hurricanes rookie netminder Pyotr Kochetkov looks in line to start back-to-back contests for the team, tonight as they take on the Winnipeg Jets at Canada Life Centre.
Kochetkov stopped 19 out of 21 in the team's most recent outing, a 2-1 overtime loss to the Minnesota Wild on Saturday. He and Antti Raanta have alternated starts since the 23-year-old Russian was emergency recalled from the Chicago Wolves following Frederik Andersen's injury, but should Kochetkov have the nod tonight, it would be the first time that Rod Brind'Amour and staff have diverted from that course. The team's 2019 second round pick has started his NHL career with a record of 5-0-1 and allowed just four goals in three games this season. The decision to possibly go with Kochetkov this evening also sets up the opportunity for Raanta to perhaps play against his former team, the Arizona Coyotes, on Wednesday night at PNC Arena. As for the skaters in front of Carolina' crease, it looks like they will stick with the same lineup from Saturday's affair in St. Paul. There may be some tweaks to the team's power play units once again, but for five-on-five play the club showed the same lines and defensive pairings.
