However, it was Tomas Tatar that ended up getting moved to the Vegas Golden Knights while Nyquist remained in Detroit.
Nyquist topped the 20-goal mark for the third time in his career while playing primarily on a line with captain Henrik Zetterberg and Tyler Bertuzzi.
Coach Jeff Blashill praised Nyquist all season for his consistent, relentless play.
After the season, Nyquist went to the IIHF World Championship in Denmark and earned a gold medal with Team Sweden.

400 -- On Feb. 28 at St. Louis, Nyquist skated in his 400th career NHL game. He played 21:20, including 2:20 on the power play, and had three shots in the 2-1 loss to the Blues.
