By the Numbers will highlight the Red Wings' on-ice accomplishments in the 2019-20 season. Each week during the offseason, By the Numbers will profile a different player on the team, focusing on his statistical highs. This week we focus on defenseman Madison Bowey.

When the Red Wings traded defenseman Nick Jensen along with a fifth-round pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft to the Washington Capitals for defenseman Madison Bowey and a second-round pick in the 2020 draft on Feb, 22, 2019, Bowey quickly adapted to his new team.
Bowey, who turned 25 on April 22, is in the same age group of many of the young core of the Wings like Dylan Larkin, Anthony Mantha and Tyler Bertuzzi and he formed an easy bond.

As he has done on his previous teams in Dallas, Chicago and Pittsburgh, veteran defenseman Trevor Daley helped mentor Bowey, including hosting the young defenseman at his home, where Bowey became an older brother figure to Daley's son, Trevor Jr., and daughter, Emery.
On the ice, Bowey has shown he is a good skater with a lot of offensive ability.
When the team lost several players to injury, Bowey was able to step in and work on a power-play unit.

Bowey returned home to Winnipeg when the season was paused but stayed connected to both the overall hockey community and to the Detroit community.
He faced off against Minnesota Wild's Devan Dubnyk in the NHL Player Gaming Challenge and participated in a huge virtual club takeover for the Boys and Girls Clubs of Southeastern Michigan along with Brendan Perlini.
Bowey is the only Detroit defenseman who is an unrestricted free agent.
He joins forwards Mantha, Bertuzzi, Adam Erne, Dmytro Timashov, Christoffer Ehn and Perlini.

53 - Bowey played 53 games with the Wings, setting a new career high. His previous high was 51 with the Washington Capitals in the 2017-18 season.
4 - Like most of the team's defensemen, Bowey missed some games with injury. But his four paled in comparison to Danny DeKeyser's team-leading 63.
150- On Feb. 25, Bowey played in his 150th career game, a 4-1 home loss to the New Jersey Devils. He played 16:04 and had two shots.

Bowey also had a career-best three-game point streak from Nov. 8-12.
