#LGRW Daily: Team White Upends Team Red in Scrimmage Finale, 6-2

DETROIT -- Team White jumped out to a commanding three-goal lead, held off a rally by Team Red and added a pair of late insurance goals on the way to a 6-2 win in the final Red & White Scrimmage at the BELFOR Training Center on Sunday night.

With Team White taking the third of the camp's three scrimmages, the Red Wings will conclude training camp on Monday, and will drop the puck on the 2020-21 season Thursday against the Carolina Hurricanes at Little Caesars Arena. Vladislav Namestnikov got Team White on the board just over five minutes into the game, providing the first period's only scoring. Team White extended its lead to 3-0 with a pair of goals in the second period after Valtteri Filppula and Givani Smith both lit the lamp.
Team Red scored twice in the third period to trim its deficit to 3-2. Anthony Mantha scored just over four minutes into the period, followed by Michael Rasmussen's goal midway through the frame. Filppula added his second goal to make the score 4-2 with less than three minutes remaining. Luke Glendening added an empty netter to stretch Team White's lead back to three goals, 5-2, heading into the scheduled three-on-three overtime session.

Filip Zadina provided the only scoring of overtime, securing Team White's 6-2 win.
Red Wings coach Jeff Blashill, Executive Vice President & General Manager Steve Yzerman and the rest of the front office will now turn its attention to the Opening Night roster and taxi squad decisions.
"My plan is, as soon as I leave you guys here, we'll go back in the room, and I'll have further discussions with our coaching staff and our management and Steve (Yzerman), and start to pare down what we think the roster is going to look like come Wednesday," Blashill told the assembled media. "Start to make those decisions on the taxi squad and those types of things, continue to have those conversations based on the information that we got tonight.
"We'll go through practice tomorrow, and hopefully have made a lot of decisions. We have Tuesday off, so by the time we get to Wednesday, we're going to have our team and get ready to play Carolina."

Both Team Red and Team White will be on the ice at the BELFOR Training Center for nearly two hours on Monday to conclude Training Camp. The Red Wings will air a final live stream, presented by Huntington Bank, from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on DetroitRedWings.com.
