"The Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers are honored to support the LGBTQ+ community throughout the year," said Ilitch Sports + Entertainment director of community impact Kevin Brown. "During Pride Month 2022, we're leveraging our platforms to share the stories of inspiring Game Changers in the LGBTQ+ community, raise funds for local organizations through limited-edition T-shirt sales and more."
The Tigers will host Pride Night at Comerica Park on Wednesday, with special packages that include a game ticket, limited-edition Tigers Pride T-shirt and a donation to a local LGBTQ+ organization of the fan's choice.
Prior to Wednesday's game, the Tigers, Red Wings and Comerica Bank will recognize four Pride Month Game Changers, who are making a positive impact in the community by working to create an inclusive environment for all.
The Game Changers series honors community members who are making a profound difference in youth education, youth wellness or sports participation. Each honoree receives a $1,000 grant dedicated to the charity of their choice.
Pride Month Game Changers include Motor City Pride chairperson Dave Wait, Pride Source Media Group co-publisher & CFO Jan Stevenson, Metropolitan Community Church of Detroit senior pastor & teacher Rev. Dr. Roland Stringfellow and Affirmations LGBTQ+ Community Center executive director Dave Garcia.
Each Game Changers honoree will be featured with individual stories throughout June on
