DETROIT -- The Force will be strong at Little Caesars Arena on Thursday when the Detroit Red Wings host the Calgary Flames for Star Wars Night.

Puck drop between the Red Wings (21-20-8; 50 points) and Flames (24-17-10; 58 points) is set for 7 p.m., with broadcast coverage on Bally Sports Detroit and the Red Wings Radio Network (97.1 The Ticket in Detroit).
Fans who purchased a special ticket package for Thursday will receive a limited-edition Red Wings-themed Star Wars T-shirt.
And all fans can enjoy a variety of activities on the Via concourse, including special giveaways and photo opportunities with roaming Star Wars character actors.
Thursday's game marks the first of two matchups in an eight-day span between Detroit and Calgary, which will drop the puck at Scotiabank Saddledome next Thursday, Feb. 16.
In the first game of its three-game homestand,
Detroit fell, 5-2, to the Edmonton Oilers
on Tuesday. Tyler Bertuzzi and Joe Veleno both scored for the Red Wings, who dropped to 13-6-7 when scoring first this season.

"It felt a lot closer," Joe Veleno said. "We just fell short by one or two goals, depending on how you factor their empty-netter. But we stuck in there. Obviously they're a playoff team and have some really high-end skill."
Veleno added that he was proud of how the Red Wings stood up for one another against Edmonton, citing the importance of team cohesion when facing adversity.
"When the time comes, there's always gonna be moments in the game where guys are gonna get hit or retaliate," Veleno said. "There's gonna be scrums, so we just gotta stick up for each other and be there. I think that shows a lot of character and sends a message to other teams that when you mess with us, all of us are gonna come in. That's the mentality we wanna have."

Calgary is coming off a 5-4 overtime loss to the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on Monday. Thursday's game marks the third of a five-game road trek for the Flames, who are 10-8-8 on the road this season.
Elias Lindholm leads Calgary in both assists (31) and points (46), while Tyler Toffoli (19-24-43) has five points in the past five games. Goalies Jacob Markstrom and Dan Vladar have combined for a 2.85 goals-against average.
"They have a heavy identity," Lalonde said about the Flames. "They're probably built for the playoffs more than the 82 games. That would be a dangerous team if they get there."

Zadina, Hagg set to return to lineup for Red Wings

After Thursday's morning skate, Lalonde said that Filip Zadina and Robert Hagg will each make their respective returns to the lineup against Calgary.
"We gotta get Zadina playing," Lalonde said. "He worked unbelievably hard through a very tough injury. I'm very excited about getting him an opportunity."
Zadina appeared in nine games with the Red Wings this season before suffering a lower-body injury on Nov. 5, while Hagg (0-2--2) has been sidelined since Dec. 8 due to an undisclosed injury.
